Today was the day that we officially adopted Jayden. Our guide is quite savvy and knew to get to the civil affairs office early to avoid long lines, and it worked. So he is officially ours!!! In my mind he was officially ours back in last September when we first sent in our letter of intent to adopt him, but now everyone agrees, he is ours!
Jayden is coughing quite a bit more today. I'm sure it is a cold, but still it is hard being in a foreign country where we can't just bring him to our pediatrician just to be sure.
He is becoming more and more attached to me. He now cries almost every time I set him down, and is happiest sitting in my lap. That is fine by me. It makes it a bit more difficult to do some things, but we figure it out, and Hannah has been a really great helper. It would have been a lot more difficult without her here.
Hannah got him to giggle a little today, with a tiny glimpse at a smile. She found his tickle spot on his tummy. Funny, because it doesn't work for me.
We went to the pool this afternoon. Jayden just dipped his feet in the water while sitting on my lap and watching Hannah swim. Hannah is getting lots of practice with her swimming on this trip.
Tomorrow, we have most of the day free, and then a little bit more paperwork in the afternoon. Then on Thursday, we leave for Gaozhou, the city where Jayden is from. We will spend the night in Gaozhou and then visit the orpahanage on Friday.
CONGRATS! And he even likes water - amazing! He's such a dream child! Hope he is feeling better soon. Hannah, you rock, big Sis!
